Starry Night is a nifty support-oriented NP that does a lot of stuff at once. If you’re trying to use VG as a DPS, though, the extra attack is nice to have, marginal though it is. This last effect is not especially helpful-and it may in fact be disadvantageous when VG is operating in a supportive role, as it implies VG’s battery will be weaker when it comes off cooldown. The skill also removes curse effects from all allies and applies them to VG herself (strengthening her battery) and makes it so her Quick cards remove her curses and apply small selfish attack buffs in exchange. Servants like Sigurd, who have powerful crit buffs but no good way to crit, are especially likely to benefit from this. You can use this skill in conjunction with VG’s own star gen to let a servant who might not normally be especially reliable as a crit DPS function in that role more effectively.

Targeted star weight buffs are quite rare, and when you factor in VG’s NP, this means VG has a remarkably complete crit-enabling skillset. It also makes her functionally unkillable in a certain Lostbelt 3 story fight, for whatever that’s worth.īeacon Soul is a nifty targeted support skill that boosts the target’s attack and star weight for 3 turns. VG’s passive list ends with a unique passive that prevents curse from killing her, which is effectively just an added bit of safety to ensure her own gimmick doesn’t take her down. Beyond that, she gets Insanity and Divinity to help her damage a touch, as well as Item Construction to make her debuffs slightly more likely to land against resistant enemies.

She also gets the usual Foreigner passive, which provides an extra 2 stars per turn. She’s solid at star gen, though, which is a small plus. Van Gogh also has a really bad deck for supportive purposes-her triple-Quick setup makes Arts chains difficult, and her NP gain isn’t anything to write home about. Bulk is nice on a support, but the low attack is less-than-helpful when VG tries to do damage, and even in a supportive role she prefers fast teams, so the stat spread isn’t the best. With six SSR Foreigners on the books now, Van Gogh replaces Abby as having the second-lowest attack and second-highest HP of the class’s SSRs.
